Earth Day 2016

To raise awareness of Earth Day 2016, your Environmental Advisory Council is sponsoring a litter pickup on Saturday, April 23rd. Trash will be collected from the on/off ramps at one of the exits of Interstate 78. Volunteer help from township residents with this effort would be most welcome and much appreciated. If you would like to participate in helping to keep Bethel Township a beautiful place to live, meet at the Bethel Library Annex Building at 9:00 a.m. on April 23rd, rain or shine. The pickup should last about three hours. Please wear weather appropriate clothing including sturdy shoes or boots. Work gloves and brightly colored safety vests will be provided. This project is open to school age children and adults, however elementary and middle school children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Lunch will be provided free of charge. In order to make lunch arrangements beforehand, please call EAC Chairperson Mike Najarian at 933-4682 prior to April 22nd. Won’t you lend a hand to help rid Bethel Township of unsightly and objectionable trash?

Your Environmental Advisory Council is excited to announce that it is sponsoring a family oriented activity to examine the water quality of the Little Swatara Creek system. Working with the cooperation of Camp Swatara and with the financial support of the Reading Area Water Authority, participants will have the opportunity to collect and learn about the small aquatic insect life which inhabits a tributary of the Little Swatara Creek and perform some basic chemical tests of the water in which that life is found. For complete details, see the registration form and the instructional agenda below. Both forms can be downloaded and printed or you can obtain copies of each at the Bethel Township Municipal Building office or the Bethel-Tulpehocken Library. Won’t you join us for a fun-filled day of exploring your beautiful Bethel Township environment?  Click below for registration and agenda information.
