The Recreation Board is an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission in matters regarding development of all recreational areas within the Township. The goal of this committee is to preserve as much open space as possible, in order to provide appealing parks and recreational areas for the residents of the community. The Recreational Board reviews all applications for subdivision and land development and gives their recommendations to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors regarding open space issues and recreational areas.

The Recreation Board meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Bethel Township Building.  All residents are encouraged to attend.

Currently there are two recreational facilities in the township:

  • Bethel Township Recreational Park and Trail, 1076 Airport Road, Bethel PA 19507. The Recreational Facility currently has a paved quarter-mile walking path, pavilion, and GaGa Ball pit. The pavilion may be reserved for special events by calling the Township building at (717) 933-8813.
  • Frystown Park, 5 Chestnut St. Myerstown, PA 17067.  Frystown Park currently has a playground, pavilion, grills for outdoor cooking, a ball field, basketball courts, and benches.  The pavilion and ballfield may be reserved for special events by calling the Township building at (717) 933-8813.

The Recreation Board sponsors the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in November and other events as needed.

If you would like to serve on the Rec. Board as an alternate, please call the Township building at (717) 933-8813.
