The Planning Commission of Bethel Township consists of seven (7) members who are residents of the Township. The Board of Supervisors appoints them for four year terms. The purpose of the Planning Commission is to:
- Review and comment on the Comprehensive Plan.
- Prepare and review the Zoning Ordinance, the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, provisions for planned residential development, and such other ordinances for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
- Review and make recommendations on proposals to rezone land.
- Review and make recommendations on land development and subdivision plans.
Requirements to be submitted to the Township Office for Subdivision and Land Development plans:
Completed and signed Bethel Township & Berks County applications.(link below)
Appropriate fees for each application. ( link below)
Eight (8) sets of preliminary plans for initial review.
Two (2) copies of any necessary reports, ex. storm water, traffic study, etc
After a project has received final unconditional approval by the township Board of Supervisors, the applicant shall deliver five (5) paper sets of final plans with all required signatures, seals and notarizations. Mylar plan sets are no longer required. After all municipal signatures are completed, the applicant will retrieve four (4) of the fully signed sets and take one to the Berks County Recorder of Deeds for recording in the courthouse records.
Conduct other planning studies and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.
